From Darker to Darker

As part of my employment within the Tap and Tumbler, I have began putting together day festivals from scratch. It is my job to find artists and bands to showcase at each event.

The first event to be completed was 'From Darker to Darker'. This consisted of eight bands and three DJ's, doors opening at 5 in the afternoon and closing at 2.30 in the morning. Because the event being the first of its kind it was a ticket-less event and aimed to showcase talent rather than make money. I worked independently to book the various bands and artists with confirmation from the venue owner to ensure that the band was suitable. I liased regularly with Tommy Kelly (Directing Manager, or Tap and Tumbler) in order to ensure that the event worked logistically with the venue and the regular clientele, also to arrange equipment and payments for the sound engineer on the day. I independently contacted; graphic designer Gergana Kafadarova, and employed her to produce the poster. The main sound engineer, Ben Gaten and employed him to mix and monitor the event. I also worked independently to organise the entire event from scratch before the day and throughout the day. With some assistance from Tommy Kelly I was able to book two photographers, who took lots of photos throughout the event. The photographers's sites can be found below.

For more information, see below.

The event was planned out to have the music starting out fairly soft and classic rock, for it to gradually get heavier throughout the event and to end on a heavy metal band. I was able to book various bands, (which can be found listed below) some of which had to back out at last minute, but due to a vast number of contacts, I was able to replace the bands within enough time to not cause any problems for the event.

The event was very successful, the venue was filled constantly despite people leaving for a bigger event at Rock City. With advertisements all over Facebook, and poster throughout the Tap and Tumbler and other venues around Nottingham. There was never a dull moment throughout the day.
