Following winning a ticket to go see The Black Star Riders at Nottingham, I contacted Sound Engineer, drum and monitor technician 'Ian Ettridge' who work closely with the band and tours with them most years. I requested to shadow him so that I can learn the insides and out of working and setting up for more established bands. I spent the day shadowing and helping Ian set up the drum kit for the band, ensuring that it was clean and in the precise place that the drummer needs it for each show. Ian was also working on the monitors for the show, and talked me through how he sets up for each of the artists and the main monitors. Throughout the 14 hours I spent at Rock City that day I was able to work alongside three monitor technicians including Ian, and four different sound engineers, including Sweedish engineers, Stefan Kristofer Ljungkvist and Johan Falkenberg.
